USF Banned Book Week event!

I just wanted to give you a quick rundown on Banned Book week at the USF campus in St Pete. http://www.ala.org/al...

Eventhough it is a week long event, the kick off begins with a presentation/discussion panel of individuals from Equality Florida, WinterPride, USF Library Science dept., Brandon Pride, St Pete Pride, and of course the film project "UNbanned!" We will share our experiences with the decision made by Hillsborough County Commissioners to not be supportive, or recognize Gay Pride displays, and book readings in public libraries, along with Gay Pride. Along with how community has come together in the name of Equality, Diversity, Freedom of Speech, and Pride. We will also have the opportunity to show the 15 minute clip of the 6/15/06 Gay Pride display, and book reading. http://www.ifilm.com/... at www.unbanned.org

Guest Speakers will include:
Jerry Notaro - St. Pete Pride Coordinator, USF Audio Visual Dept Director.
Shirley Rhodes - A USF Graduate of Library Science, and Brandon Pride officer
Russ Patterson - Equality Florida Tampa Bay Coordinator
Mark Ferguson - Brandon Pride President, and fellow libraian
Zeke Fread - WinterPride coordinator, and Brandon Pride PR media Coordinator
and
Jean Batronie - Brandon Pride officer, and Candidate for Hillsborough County Commission District 4

This event will take place on Monday, 9/25/06 from 12noon-2pm in the second floor media room of the main campus library and it is free to the public to attend.
