Hello - Well if not writers at least you are readers and that makes you my favorite kind of people!
I have been a thriller/mystery (yeah even techno) junkie for some time. I finlly decided to write them - My first was released in paperback this past year - WolfPointe (Rick Buda Author). What authors do you like to read? ![]() |

James Patterson, Richard North Patterson, Dean Koontz, Patricia Cornwell, Jeffery Deaver, J.D. Robb, Anne Rule, on & on & on. I'll have to get a copy of your book so I can read it too. Diane aka Danesnboxers |

Nelson DeMille begins this story with chatter. From the
first person's perspective the main character explains what types of voicemail messages he's received, and what his journey to work feels like. Through the main character, the author witters on in a similar vein, about Daniel Steel novels, and lord knows what all else for twenty pages! The main character starts discussing murder with a colleague at the top of page twenty. The book is 650 pages long, and feels much like a housebrick. Now, I've got a question for thriller fans out there. The question is: Do you enjoy reading characters chattering about this and that? Does it sooth you? Do you feel mildly amused by their inconsequential ramblings? Or do you start skipping pages? And, likewise, for authors, my question is: Do you ramble and witter in your books? And, if you do, why? Do you believe that it fleshes out the main character, so to speak, or do you do it because your editor accepts manuscripts by the kilo? My Webpage http://www.bookscape.... |

Hi there fellow mystery junkies, lol.
I'm Petra and actually write mystery fiction. My first novel LOOK INTO THE EYES OF EVIL was released in 2004 under my authorname P.K. PARKER. It's an FBI Series and has found a good following so far, I can proudly say. I hope to chat with you all soon. Of course my number one passion is reading mystery fiction as well. Wishing you all a great new year, Petra |

That's why I started writing my mysteries with lots of action, and just enough conversation that is necessary to move the story along. I think my readers agree with me on this. I'm an action junky allright, lol. Let me know if you have any specific questions for me. I'll be happy to answer them for you if I can. Petra |

Petra,
I couldn't agree with you more. I read a blog (Grumpy old bookman) I think, but I'm not sure. It said that there is lots of publishing politics surrounding the length of a book these days. I'm sure that's true. There's lots of politics surrounding everything, title, book cover, you name it! There might be a temptation in some places to pad the novel out in order to make it extra thick, and look like value for money. But, what if the writing is all bumpfh and waffle? I personally think writers have got to watch out against that! I go in hard and fast! That's what I like to read, so that's what I like to write. Writers Against Bumpfh and Waffle Unite! (That's my battle cry.) Lol My International Big Oil Thriller Novel: http://www.bookscape.... |

Patrick,
Happy New Year, by the way, lol. You sound like a writer which has his head together, and seems to be on the right track. I may just have to check out your book. If you want to take a look at my first four chapters of LOOK INTO THE EYES OF EVIL, then check out this site: www.writing.com Once in, just enter the book title. Hint: next to every author is a suitcase. Mine happens to be yellow, I'm a prefered author. Click on that suitcase anywhere and it will take you directly into the authors portfolio. It's a great writing community, and helped me test market my mystery novel. Check it out. Take care for now, Petra aka. P.K. Parker P.S: Are you working on your next novel yet? I'm currently working on "Target". |
