The Camel and Artichoke has proved a popular venue, not least because it is only a couple of minutes from Waterloo Station - the three bookshops that you pass between the Station and the pub is just a bonus), so for the moment we are staying there. There are still informal meets at the Hoop and Grapes (see below) on most Friday evenings for anyone who wants to wind down from their week and doesn't want to rush home immediately.

Anyway - hope we will see you all on the 10th and if you do want to suggest another venue to try or to try another evening as well then feel free to post your ideas here.

I've been (Mary talking here) to the Hoop and Grapes, which is on Farringdon Street just up from the end of Fleet street, to meet the manager and look at the new OBCZ. The pub is lovely - on several levels with a darts room and a function room (with balcony!) upstairs which I didn't visit, as I was very happy in the downstairs bar and beer garden. The pub is only open on weekdays (and not bank holidays) as it mainly serves the office workers in the area, but I can report that the food (served 12-3 and 6-8) is excellent, and we can have the function room for free if we ever want to hold a meetup there. The staff is very friendly, I was on first name terms with Mike, John and Liana (sp?) by the time I left! Support for the new OBCZ would be very welcome. I intend to go there on Friday evenings as a semi-regular thing to take books along after work, as it is an easy trip for me on the no. 11 bus (which goes to Charing Cross and Victoria), also Balckfriars tube isn't far, and Thameslink is a two minute walk.

Apologies folks - I had intended to come along but unfortunately had to divert my attention to my Uni work - there's just not enough hours in the day what with full time work as well!! Will be able to attend the next few meetups though as it'll be the summer break (Woohoo:-))

Funny Chris - I had exactly the same thought. Need to see what we can do next time

Who attended?

    •  A good meetup with a very friendly crowd as always
    •  Very friendly group. Very accepting of new members. A great evening!
    •  I arried part way through the evening. The BC folk were most excellent but the volume of the football and then the music was way too high and it took the bar staff quite a while to respond to a request to turn it down.

I couldn't make it, I am ill and could not sleep last night so I missed it! :( I know it was great fun though!
