About this Meetup

Welcome to the NYC Bookcrossing Meetup Group

So what's Bookcrossing all about?
Bookcrossing is kinda like making the whole world one big book exchange. Through journaling on the site you help create and maintain your books history and it's pretty cool to see how far they travel and how many people get to share them!

So what's the NYC Bookcrossing Meetup Group all about?
Like a traditional book club we'll meet and talk about books we've read and enjoyed but then there's more -- we'll exchange the books with each other or release them "into the wild" for other people to find and enjoy. The group is alot of fun and full of interesting and diverse people -- just the people NYers want to meet! Plus, come on meeting new people is fun and being social actually has been proven to make you live longer!

How does Bookcrossing work? It's pretty simple:
1. Read a good book
2. Register the book on bookcrossing.com
3. Release the book for others to read

By now you must be so excited you just don't know what to do! Here are a few useful links to get started:

Next Meetup: Don't wait RSVP now for the next Meetup we can't wait to meet you

NYC Meetup Bookshelf: Check out all of the books we've shared.

BookCrossing Labels: You can print these labels out at home on to Avery 5163 labels

BookCrossing Bookmarks: Print them at home & tape into your books

Books Released in Manhattan: A list of books released in Manhanttan including the what, when & wheres!

And books released in Brooklyn: The Brooklyn what, when & wheres!

We'll be meeting mostly in lower Manhattan (East Village, LES, SOHO area) and *gulp* we might even try a Meetup or 2 in Brooklyn (Park Slope, Carol Gardens etc). We'll try out some new venues as we are looking for *the* right one with wifi (so we can register books etc.), quiet (so we can actually hear each other), wine, beer etc (this is social)...

I look forward to meeting you at the next Meetup. If you have any questions or want to know more about the group just shoot me an email.

Thanks for checking out the NYC Bookcrossing Meetup Group!!
~Mary T
